George Clooney opens up about his iconic mullet from the 80s
Los Angeles, Nov 12 (Cyber Post): Hollywood star George Clooney has opened up about his memorable 1980s mullet and the early days of his acting career. The 64-year-old actor, currently promoting his upcoming film Jay Kelly, spoke about his famous hairstyle during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Host Jimmy Kimmel showcased throwback photos of Clooney from his The Facts of Life days, prompting the actor to laugh and exclaim, “Look at that hair! That’s a mullet, dude.”
Kimmel went on to tease Clooney, noting that he and his co-star Nancy McKeon appeared to have the same haircut. Clooney agreed, joking, “If you notice, Nancy and I have the exact same haircut.” Kimmel quipped that it seemed like “there was one hair place in the ‘80s and everyone went to it.” Clooney added that his hairstyle “got longer in the back and shorter at the sides, as you do,” before humorously admitting, “I don’t know who gave me the mullet! My parents weren’t taking me to the barber back then.”
Clooney first rose to fame in 1985 with his role on The Facts of Life, where his dark-haired mullet and trademark charm made him a fan favorite. He continued to sport longer hair into the early ‘90s before adopting a more refined look for his breakout role on the hit medical drama ER. Earlier this year, the Jay Kelly star underwent another transformation, dyeing his signature gray hair dark brown for his Broadway debut — proving that decades later, Clooney’s hairstyles remain as newsworthy as ever.
