Hyderabad, Jan 1,2026:
Labour & Employment Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy on Thursday directed officials of the Labour, Employment, Factories and ESI departments to improve their performance and service delivery.
The Minister held a brief interaction with officials at the Secretariat on the occasion of the New Year, during which he reviewed departmental functioning and set clear expectations for the year ahead.
He instructed the Employment and Training Department to introduce new skill development courses, including Artificial Intelligence–based programmes, at Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs). The Minister stressed that all new courses must be aligned with current and emerging industry requirements to enhance employability among youth.
Emphasising worker safety, Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy asked the Factories Department to strengthen safety standards and preparedness to prevent industrial accidents. Referring to incidents such as the Sigachi mishap, he asserted that there should be zero compromise on the safety and welfare of workers.
The Minister also reviewed the functioning of the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) department and instructed officials to ensure quality medical care for Insured Persons (IPs). He made it clear that he would not tolerate complaints from IPs and directed officials to improve healthcare services, including the establishment of additional dispensaries wherever required.
Officials from various departments visited the Minister’s chamber at the Secretariat to extend New Year greetings. The Minister reciprocated the wishes and called upon officials to work with greater commitment, responsibility and accountability.
Special Secretary Dana Kishore and Director of Employment and Training Smt. Kanti Wesley were present during the meeting.
