State Government Focused on Industry-Ready Skills for Youth: Vivek Venkatswamy

Hyderabad, Jan 19: Labour and Employment, Mines and Geology Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy on Monday said that Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs) will play a crucial role in creating sustainable employment opportunities for youth across Telangana. He said the state government has conceptualised ATCs to equip young people with industry-relevant skills and enable them to access new-age job opportunities.

The Minister was speaking after participating in the Bhumi Puja ceremony for a new standalone ATC at Chennur town. He said the centre would provide skill training aligned with emerging sectors and ensure employment opportunities for educated youth in the region. Following the ceremony, a public meeting was also held during which interest-free loans were distributed to Self-Help Groups (SHGs).

Recalling his commitment to the people of Chennur, Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy said he had promised to establish a skill development centre after being elected. “Today, we have fulfilled that promise by laying the foundation stone for the ATC. Youth will be trained in new courses and prepared for future employment opportunities. This institution will work towards securing a better future for the youth and their families,” he said.

The Minister noted that the region earlier faced a severe shortage of funds. However, after discussions with the Chief Minister, ₹100 crore was mobilised through the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT), SDF and TFIDC and utilised for various developmental works in the constituency.

He also recalled that an 850 MW power plant was established in the area through the efforts of late Kaka Venkataswamy and former minister G. Vinod, which provided employment to nearly 5,000 local youth. Another power plant is expected to be established soon, creating more job opportunities. ATCs, he said, would play a vital role in training youth to meet the skill requirements of these projects.

Further, the Minister said the state government is setting up a Young India Integrated School at Samanpalli with an investment of ₹250 crore, with admissions scheduled to begin next year. With available resources and public support, he said, the government is committed to transforming Chennur and ensuring comprehensive development across all sectors.
