Gaddam Vivek Venkatswamy Condemns Alleged Attack by Balka Suman at Kyathanpally, Seeks Response from T. Harish Rao

Hyderabad | February 18, 2026

Gaddam Vivek Venkatswamy, Minister for Labour and Mines & Geology, once again strongly condemned the attack on him and the Member of Parliament during the recent incident at Kyathanpally.

Addressing the media in his chamber on Wednesday, the Minister expressed serious concern over the conduct of BRS leader Balka Suman. He alleged that Suman and his supporters attacked their convoy and damaged the window panes of their vehicles.

“Is this the way to function in a democracy? Will T. Harish Rao justify such behaviour?” the Minister questioned.

Vivek clarified that there was no issue whatsoever in Kyathanpally prior to the incident and stated that the alleged acts of aggression by Balka Suman were witnessed by many. He termed the allegations levelled by Suman as completely false and accused him of deliberately provoking tensions and staging dramas for political mileage.

Explaining the sequence of events, the Minister said that on the first day, the meeting at Kyathanpally Municipality was adjourned due to lack of quorum. On the second day, he alleged that outsiders entered the scene and created unnecessary disturbances, leading to further postponement.

“We have not obstructed the election process at any stage,” he asserted.

The Minister further stated that stones were hurled and attacks were carried out during the incident, and accused Suman of spreading false propaganda over the past two days.

Referring to past developments in Chennur and Kyathanpally, Vivek alleged that earlier elections were not conducted properly and were declared unanimous under pressure tactics and misuse of official authority.

“When they set up camps earlier, did we create any disturbance? What misuse of power have we committed?” he asked.

He strongly condemned the attack on the vehicles of a Minister and a Member of Parliament, stating that such actions are unacceptable in a democratic system. He alleged that despite losing power, Suman continues to behave as if still in office and is displaying frustration over electoral setbacks.

“If Mr. Harish Rao truly respects democracy, he must condemn the attack carried out by Mr. Suman against us,” the Minister demanded.

Minister Vivek also clarified that in Chennur, they never attacked BRS leaders nor ordered any arrests, reiterating their commitment to democratic values and peaceful political conduct.
