Private Employees’ Pension Scheme Introduced by Kaka Venkatswamy for Workers’ Security: Minister Vivek Venkatswamy

Telangana Labour and Employment Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy said that the pension scheme for private sector employees was introduced by his father Kaka Venkatswamy to ensure financial security for workers in the private sector.

The Minister was speaking at the Telangana Private Employees Association Diary Release Programme held at the Telangana Gazetted Officers’ Bhavan in Nampally, Hyderabad Thusrsday. On this occasion, Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy and Telangana Jana Samithi President Prof. Kodandaram jointly released the association’s diary.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that inspired by his father’s vision, the government has introduced a special law for gig workers. He stated that the law would be implemented in the upcoming Assembly sessions and a dedicated board will be constituted to safeguard the welfare and security of gig workers.

Criticising the previous BRS government, the Minister said that minimum wages were not increased during its tenure. He added that the Congress government is now taking steps to enhance minimum wages for workers.

He also noted that private employees played a crucial role in the Telangana statehood movement and assured that the Congress government would fulfil the promises made to the movement activists. The Minister further promised to discuss the issues faced by private employees with the Chief Minister and work towards resolving them.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Kodandaram said that the proposed draft Gig Workers’ Act became possible due to the initiative taken by Minister Vivek Venkatswamy. He praised the Minister for his continuous efforts for workers’ welfare and urged the government to take more proactive steps for the welfare of blue-collar workers.
