Vivek Venkatswamy Vows All-Round Development of Chennur Municipality

Mancherial, February 3:
Labour and Mines Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy on Tuesday pledged to continue his efforts for the all-round development of Chennur Municipality and assured that every issue brought to his notice would be carefully examined and resolved. He said that the overall development of the municipality would also spur growth in business activities.

The Minister was addressing a meeting at Marwadi Bhavan in Chennur town in the backdrop of the upcoming Chennur Municipal elections. A large number of residents belonging to the Marwadi community attended the meeting and shared their views on town development, business-related concerns, and basic infrastructure.

Speaking on the transformation of Chennur, Dr. Vivek said, “When I first came here, there were not even basic facilities. Autos used to demand ₹200 just to enter the wards. After my victory, CC roads and side drains were constructed in all wards. At present, development works worth nearly ₹40 crore are underway. Whenever new colonies come up, it must be ensured that basic infrastructure is provided without fail.”

Detailing ongoing and proposed development initiatives, the Minister said:

  • A new ATC Centre will be established in Chennur
  • Works for a new 850 MW power plant at the Jaipur Power Plant will be taken up
  • ₹10 crore has been sanctioned for beautification of Chennur
  • Foundation stone has been laid for bypass road works costing ₹1.60 crore
  • New shops will be constructed for poor families affected by road widening
  • Development of the burial ground has been taken up with ₹1.2 crore
  • A 100-bed hospital will be inaugurated in May
  • An integrated school from KG to PG level will be constructed at Somanpalli village

Criticising the previous government, Dr. Vivek said the State had been pushed into debt due to unnecessary expenditure. He added that plans worth ₹45 crore have been prepared to supply Godavari water to Chennur, ensuring that there would be no drinking water scarcity for the next 15 years.

Recalling his association with the Marwadi community, the Minister said, “When I wanted to go to the US, my father advised me to establish an industry here. The first people I worked with were from the Marwadi community. That is why I share a special bond with you. I have learned discipline and the importance of avoiding unnecessary expenses from the Marwadis.” He expressed hope that their affection and support would continue in the future as well.

Calling upon people to actively participate in shaping the town’s future, Dr. Vivek urged them to offer suggestions for further development of Chennur Municipality and appealed for the victory of Congress party candidates in the upcoming municipal elections.

He also said that he had requested Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy during a Cabinet meeting to sanction higher funds for the Chennur Assembly constituency in view of the 2027 Pushkarams. The Chief Minister responded positively and assured enhanced funding. Just as the Congress government had made grand arrangements for Medaram, the Pushkarams too would be organised in a grand and befitting manner, the Minister added.
